South Tampa Bay and all of the Florida High Tech Corridor are
one of 7 top "Intelligent Communities" globally, according to a
project of the New York-based World Teleport Association. Tampa Bay and the tech corridor were
singled out for 1) anticipating demand for skilled employees by focusing on
workforce development; 2) an effective collaboration between academis, the
private sector, and local and state government; and 3) an impressive backbone
in broadband, DSL, and cable modem service. |

Tampa Bay was named the 2002 Mega-Market of the Southeast by
Southern Business & Development magazine, outperforming economic
development organizations in 35 metro areas.
To achieve this, economic development deals had to have resulted in
200 or more new jobs or an investment of at least $30 million. Editor Mike Randle says, “From what we
hear, Tampa Bay is one of the most attractive places to operate a business in
this country right now.” See AeA's
Cyberstates 2001 report. |
